The Rocky Top Gelbvieh Farm is located on the high Cumberland Plateau, where cattle graze all year round on lush  grasses, clovers and forbs. The annual rainfall is 50 inches annually, and because the cattle are aclimated to the Fescue at that altitude, the calves gain an average weight of two pounds daily. The water source is from a well, waterered in troughs for better access and health of the cattle.
